Happy Wednesday loves! I hope you are all having a great week so far!! I can’t even describe how excited and pumped I am to bring you this post today. Microblading has been something I have wanted to do for soooo, soooo long and I can’t wait to give you a behind the scenes look into the process and also some tips and things you should know before, during, and after the process. Read on below to learn more about my experience in collaboration with http://www.browsbyang.com ! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Before You Go

Do your research! If you know me IRL, then you know that am kind of a picky gal, who likes things a certain way. Hence, the reason my friends and fam lovingly call me “Monica” as in Monica Geller from Friends. With that being said, it’s only natural that I would do a whole boatload of research before I even thought about going and letting someone touch my brows! Ha. Anyways, when I came across http://www.browsbyang.com  I couldn’t have been happier! When I read her reviews, the word perfectionist was mentioned several times…and I think my heart skipped a beat. I don’t’ know about any of you gals, but having someone who strives for perfection when it comes to my face, is tops in my book!!

Once Ang and I started to discuss working together and planning out the appointment, I felt even more at ease. She is so comforting, kind, and answered any questions I had. At this time, I also learned that she is not only an aesthetician, but a registered nurse as well! That put my nerves at eases even more, because whose better hands to be in than a nurse? As if things couldn’t get better, she also trained under Julia Anne Milin of Brow Design International who was featured  on this segment of Good Morning America. Long story short, it always pays off to do your research when it comes to something important and permanent.

Preparing For Your Appointment

Ang was very thorough and has do’s and don’ts listed on her website for your convenience. I made sure to check these a few weeks before my appointment. A couple that I wouldn’t have thought of were, no sun exposure a few weeks prior to appointment and also to not sure acne and/or anti-aging products for about 30 days or so prior to appointment.

On the Day of

Do: Wear something comfortable!! I wore one of my favorite tunics, comfy jeans, and sneaks. You will be at your appointment for 2-3 hours and wills be sitting and laying down for the actual procedure. It pays off to be comfy!! Also listed on Ang’s website, make sure you are not wearing makeup on your brows!!

The Microblading Process: A Behind the Scenes Look

Part One: Measuring and Shaping the Look of Your New Brows

This part of the process is so clutch and I was amazed at how much time and attention to detail Ang went into to make sure my new brows would be exactly what I was looking for. As you can see from the pics, there are many things that go into this step. In this part, she will measure your different parts of your forehead and eyebrows to determine where exactly to place your arches etc. I was so excited bc Ang was able to lift my arches to give me a much more refreshed and youthful look to my face. Once she has drawn and mapped eyebrows out, you will be able to see a close approximation of what your brows will look like in the end. Th next step of part one is for her to match the dye to your eyebrows. We tried two colors and had  a little chat back and forth about which matched my hairline and the highlights in my hair. In the end, I went with the slightly lighter shade.

Part 2: The Microblade Process

During this step, you will be laying down. Ang made sure that I was comfortable and again, wearing comfy clothes helps too. The total process takes about a house or so, depending on how much your brows need. As you can see from the pics in the beginning, mine needed a lot of help, especially in the tail area.

She will start by making an outline of each brow with a special pen and then go back in to start the outline with the microblade. I know you are all thinking this already…but does it hurt??!! You hear the word blade and you think, Ouch!! Don’t worry, Ang has you covered. She uses a topical ointment that helps numb the pain. In my honest opinion, I did not find it to hurt much at all. Without the lidocaine, it felt like a cat scratch. I opted for no lidocaine until the outlines were made, which makes the pigment adhere to your skin better. Once my outlines were complete, she numbed me up and I barely felt anything at all.

As you can see in the pics, the process is to build the brows gradually by adding precise strokes to the skin. You can see also that you may bleed a teeny tiny bit, but not enough to need a bandage or anything. When all was said and and done, I got to see my brows for the first time before the touch ups. My heart fluttered when I saw them for the first time because I couldn’t believe how perfect they looked!!

Part 3: Touch Ups

Once, my brows were done, Ang, the professional and perfectionist that she is, went back and perfected my brows down to the last stroke! She really takes her time and her attention to detail is impeccable. She will go out of her way to make sure you have #browsonfleek. She truly is a brow wizard!

Part 4: The Healing Process

This, in my opinion is absolutely the most important part of the process. I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow ALL of the instructions that Ang gives you. Her instructions are super detailed and gives you what to do day by day!

Some tips:

Do NOT get them wet!! As in, the whole 10 days! Ang gave me little visors to keep MY brows dry in the shower and my husband helped me wash my hair in the tub. Honestly, I lived on dry shampoo for most of the ten days!

Do invest in makeup wipes! You cannot wash your face and these are a lifesaver!

Do NOT stress about your brows! They will follow a distinct healing process. I couldn’t believe that Ang literally predicted exactly what my brows would do at each step of the healing process. Trust the experts….they know what they are doing!!

Do show off your brows!! For people that know me personally, I’ve gotten SOOOOOO many compliments already on my brows! They are a total game changer!!

Do schedule a touch up within 6-7 weeks, to assess how your skin accepted the pigment, and to reinforce the shape, ensuring the longevity of your brows.

*If you look at the two pics above, you can see the difference in color of brows immediately after microblading in the top pic and 14 days  later in the bottom pic. Your brows will lighten up by 30% from the 1st day.

In Review

Would I recommend microblading? 100% YES! It honestly is sooo worth every penny. I still can’t stop staring at how amazing my brows look. I felt so self conscious about my brows before, especially when I didn’t have makeup on. Now, I can totally rock a makeup free face and still feel confident bc my brows give me a “done up” look.
